Defensive Pistol - Foundational Skills - $150
This course is intended for shooters who are newer to the defensive use of firearms. Expect skill development in the areas of pistol manipulation, marksmanship, & safe utilization of the defensive pistol. Although an introductory course it should not be confused with a "basic" course.

About the Event
This is a developmental skills course focused on the practical use of the defensive pistol. It is a great course to continue your training progression and will provide an opportunity to learn new skills while improving upon your existing skill set. The material will be presented in a crawl, walk, run manner and in an easy to understand building block approach. Focus areas will be practical movement, positional shooting, and use of cover in the context of a self defense scenario.

PRE-REQUISITES: CCW or other equivalent preferred
Points of Instruction (POI) Include:
- Selection criteria for a defensive handgun (key considerations)
- Proper firearm manipulation in a personal defense context
- Safe loading & unloading of the pistol or revolver
- Drawing from the holster (4 step practical draw procedure)
- Deployment from ready and carry positions
- Speed reloading the pistol or revolver
- Marksmanship development with enhanced accuracy standards
- Critical decision making in the context of a practical firearm application
- Specific developmental focus dependant upon the student(s) skill levels
Equipment Required:
- Modern defensive pistol or revolver
- Properly fitted IWB or OWB holster suggested but not required
- 3 pistol magazines / 2 revolver speed loaders
- Reload belt pouch suggested but not required
- Factory produced training ammunition matching your firearm's caliber (150+ rounds)
- Eye protection (safety glasses or polycarbonate lenses in perscription eyeware)
- Ear protection (electronic shooting ear muffs highly suggested)
- Seasonally appropriate clothing suitable for outdoor activities (no low scooped neck shirts or tops)
- Closed toe shoes or boots suitable for outdoor activities
- A baseball style cap or visor to help protect your face
- Water, sports drinks, & snacks to maintain yourself during moderate physical activity for the training day
- Please note that the range facility does not have running water or improved facilities
