About the Event
This course provides an introductory block of instruction in one-person Close Quarters Battle (CQB), focused on practical solo movement and decision-making during Active Killer and home defense situations.
Instruction is delivered using a decision-driven procedural framework, emphasizing how a single armed individual may be required to move through a structure or confined environment under extreme and rapidly evolving circumstances. The material is applicable to both armed civilians and patrol officers, depending on the student’s role.
For civilian participants, instruction addresses:
Movement away from danger when avoidance, escape, or protection of others is the priority
Movement toward danger when confronting an immediate lethal threat is unavoidable
For law enforcement participants, the material applies directly to solo or limited-officer response to Active Killer incidents. Unless the class is composed entirely of law enforcement, instruction avoids school-specific response models and instead emphasizes open public spaces such as businesses, places of worship, and similar environments, as well as residential home defense.
Instructional Emphasis
Topics include:
One-person CQB movement principles and positioning
Managing angles, corners, and unknowns while operating alone
Decision-making under stress with limited information
Risk assessment when choosing to disengage, contain, or advance
Contextual differences between personal defense and professional response
This course does not provide a complete Active Killer response package. It is intended to build judgment, structure, and realistic expectations for solo CQB application.
