This is an intermediate to advanced skills course and a great next step after completing our Practical Defensive Pistol 1 course. Expect skill development in the areas of pistol manipulation, close range engagement, malfunction clearance, and critical decision making.

About the Event
This is a developmental skills course focused on the practical use of the defensive pistol at close range and under adverse conditions such as being injured. Â It focuses on close range engagement techniques, single handed deployment, operation, reloading, and malfunction clearances. Â Â Â It is a great course to continue your training progression and will provide an opportunity to learn new skills while improving upon your existing skill set. Â The material will be presented in a crawl, walk, run manner and in an easy to understand building block approach.
PRE-REQUISITES: Successful completion of our Practical Defensive Pistol 1 block of instruction or a waiver of this requirement after a review of your prior training and experience is required. Â If you sign up and we determine prior to the start of class that you don't qualify we will issue a full refund.
Points of Instruction (POI) Include:
- Survive the fight mindset discussion
- Close range threat engagement techniques & considerations
- Proper one handed firearm manipulation while injured or partially incapacitated
- Drawing from the open and concealed holster while partially incapacitated
- Deployment of the handgun from ready and carry positions
- Reloading the pistol one handed or while partially incapacitated
- Immediate and Remedial Action for malfunction clearance while partially incapacitated
- Practical marksmanship from alternative firing positions
- Critical decision making in the context of a practical firearm application
- Specific developmental focus dependant upon the student's current skill level
- Practical movement in the context of a defensive firearm application (time permitting)
- Practical deployment of a tourniquet (TQ) while partially incapacitated (time permitting)
Equipment Required:

- Modern defensive pistol or revolver with OWB, IWB, or AIWB holster required
- 3-5 magazines / 2-4 revolver speed loaders and a belt pouch to carry 2 speed reloads
- Factory produced training ammunition matching your firearm's caliber (est. 250+ rounds - bring 300)
- Cover garmet for concealed pistol practice (we may shoot open, concealed, or both)
- Eye protection (safety glasses or polycarbonate lenses in perscription eyeware)
- Ear protection (electronic shooting ear muffs highly suggested)
- Knee pads recommended for positional shooting work
- Seasonally appropriate clothing suitable for outdoor activities (no low scooped neck shirts or tops)
- Closed toe shoes or boots suitable for outdoor activities
- A baseball style cap or visor to help protect your face
- Water, sports drinks, & snacks to maintain yourself during moderate physical activity for the training day
- Please note that the range facility does not have running water or improved facilities
